Under the guidance of our food services facilitator, you'll delve into the depths of our commercial kitchen, learning basic culinary skills from dishwashing to food preparation. To address food insecurity in our community, we've partnered with Margaret's House to provide fresh meals to those in need.

At the end of your program, if you’re not quite ready for work and would like to put your new found skills to the test, step into a work placement in the community. We’ll connect you with our employment partners and local businesses, giving you the chance to shine in a real-world setting!

Digital Programs.
We offer digital programs, often in collaboration with other local organizations in our industry, to help service those in rural areas.

The Digital Solutions Program is a transformative 4-week virtual program championing digital inclusion. Participants receive a complimentary laptop and headset, plus enjoy a year of paid internet access. This program provides individuals living in remote areas or who are unable to attend in person with skill development opportunities in the areas of digital literacy, employment and life skills. Individuals are empowered to build confidence in their abilities and social connection in their communities.

The Digital Employment Program (DEP) is a three month virtual program for residents of Truro, Nova Scotia which provides free laptops to participants. The program focuses on providing individuals facing barriers with comfortable and safe access to employability skills, work placement opportunities, and innovative learning experiences. The program uses an interactive platform known as Blue Rabbit which gamifies the material to help reinforce what is learned. Overall, DEP fosters an environment that helps individuals re-enter the workforce and reach their next steps.

Participants from our digital programs have made several steps to reaching their goals. Individuals have taken the opportunity to obtain their high school equivalency or become employed.
Others participants started engaging in community programs (i.e. peer support groups, writers groups, and employment programs).
Some past participants connected to health and wellness or began their own virtual groups to continue their journey of overcoming personal barriers.
